Australia day 2 ferries and food

March 24, 2026

Today we watched a YouTube video on cheap Australian eats and decided we may mix a little bit of a food tour into the day. The first place we went was the Merrickville Pork Roll. The sandwich is on a crispy roll stuffed with crispy pork belly, carrot cabbage, fresh cucumber, chili sauce and onions. It is super tasty. We each ate half of the sandwich

Next, we boarded a hop on hop off ferry for a cruise across the harbor.

We stopped at in the town of Manly for some window shopping. There is a long promenade running from one end of the town at the Marina to the other end of town where the beach is.

We reached the end of the promenade and took a look at the beach. There are a lot of surfers out here on this side.

We turned around to return to the boat, there is an amazing to go sushi restaurant with display cases full of fresh Sashimi, and a store displaying a wall full of “budgie smugglers“

We boarded the ferry and  returned to the main port where we decided to continue our food tour and some sightseeing.

For our next food tour stop we went to “ the Chinese noodle House” we had stirfry noodles with lamb and lamb dumplings. Everything is handmade to order and it was fantastic and fresh.

Next we boarded a bus for a drive across the city to “ India home dinner” it was a pita bread, smothered in butter, chicken sauce with chopped up chicken and fried onions. Again, it was absolutely delicious. I was up for more, but Gerry and Regina were done so we skipped the other two restaurants. They were a bit farther bus rides anyway, so we headed back to our hotel for the night.

Another fun day in Sydney with some delicious food and lots of time in the sun and on the water
