I am walking out of my campsite at 10 after six again this morning. I had to mend a hole in my pants last night. It was developing in the pocket that I carry my phone in. It rained for a few hours last night. I am glad that I stopped and got my shelter set up, but I am also excited to see if I missed out on anything at the cabin.
I arrived to the Dunmore cabin, which is where I had considered pushing on to last night. I am glad that I stayed where I did. I did not get wet and there was nothing spectacular about the cabin. It sits above an open Prairie field with a cow down below his bell I can hear clanking. One positive is there is an out house, which is a nice alternative to what I normally do in the morning.
It is 7:50 AM and I have just walked from California in to Oregon. I will need to return to California and pick up my missing 548 miles of the Sierras, but for now, California is in my rearview mirror!
I’ve reached another the part of the trail that is covered in snow, so I am walking parallel to the trail along a ridge top. When I got to the top the views are phenomenal and worthy of another panoramic picture.
I stopped at this stream to fill up my water, and noticed this tree with the really weird bark growth at the bottom.
I’ve come to the top of another saddle, and down to my left I see two small lakes below. Shortly there after I passed by this beautiful meadow
Lunchtime with a view and a yard sale of my gear to dry it out from last nights rain.
Trail angel Trail Magic a soda never tasted so good
There is a shelter just off trail that is open for use. I had originally planned to stay here, but having crossed into Oregon, I decided to challenge myself and push on another 11 miles Callahans resort for a real dinner.
I think Oregon is going to have some amazing views like this valley from one of my side ridge trail views.
The trail literally goes over the driveway this house. The owners are very supportive of hikers and actually installed spichot for their well and a picnic table for hikers to relax at.
I took the side trail down to Callahans lodge past this railroad yard before going under the I-5 freeway.
I rewarding myself with a rib eye steak. Today I also beat my highest to date mileage by 5 miles! I hiked a total of 30.6!
Callahans has a tent area for PCT hikers to set up. That area tonight was being used for a wedding, so I was put on the front lawn in front of their fountain. It’s actually a beautiful spot.
Today’s PCT miles hiked 30.6
Total PCT Miles hiked to date 1176.8
PCT mile marker 1717.7
(Flipped over 542.8 miles)
