Day 19 and I thought yesterday was cold

What is up with the weather!

Yet another night, where we made it in the camp, set up with some wind and hunkered down for the night. It continued to be as bitter cold as was yesterday. We woke up to a new inch of snow and freezing temperatures. Last night our water bottles froze. I must say the trees and bushes were beautiful, covered in their snow. Heading out of camp at 8:20.

The wind and snow has ceased, and we are dropping down just to the bottom of the snow line and getting some clear trail. I had a small slip on a piece of ice and of course, my landing pad was a sharp pointed granite rock. I have received my first injury. Once my leg warmed up  the blood started to trickle, so I put a Band-Aid on it. I'll see if I have to superglue it tonight.

As we come down out of the clouds, we can see more amazing Valley views

We found the perfect sitting log.  It has nice butt indents that are super smooth! A great place for a short break to refuel

The Trail continues to offer up amazing Valley view’s

One more mileage, sign, sawmill campground was our lunch spot yesterday.

The trail follows along and crosses a beautiful stream.

The trail is getting close to the areas of super bloom we saw from higher up on the mountain. We have Bigelow’s Tickseed along the trail, which is the same thing that we see up on the hillside across the valley.

The trail down into this valley is absolutely gorgeous. There are flowers everywhere. I hope the video does not make you sea sick with its jerkiness.

You guessed it there’s pipe gets along with section in Trail too.

Glad I’m wearing contrasting visible colors.

We are beginning to see a lot of a lupines as well as the other yellow flowers. These are common around the El Dorado area at home also.

Woolly Indian paintbrush, followed shortly on trail by a nice mix of poppies and Bigelow’s Tickseed. The colors are intermixed beautifully.

After walking down into the valley we came to hiker town USA.
It’s an odd place. We got a room out of the wind for $20 a bed, and that’s all there is, just beds. They do have a heated shower onsite, and a laundry tub to hand was your laundry.

From here we were able to call the local convenience store / gas station which also has a little grill. They came and gave us a free ride.  We resupplied for our next section of Trail to the town of Tehachapi. I got the PCT burger and fries for dinner, and I was still hungry so I ordered a Carne Asada burrito as well! My hunger is real. Shortly after we arrived six other hikers also doing northbound came in for dinner as well.

Today’s miles 13.3 total trail miles 218.3.  PCT mile mark 517.6 due to Flip of 299.5
