Day 175 Dorthy Pass and Sanora Pas

 September 7

I’m heading out of camp at 7 AM. I’m immediately going to hit Dorothy Pass. Camping next to a lake is very beautiful, the big drawback is it produces a lot of condensation once again this morning, my tent and sleeping bag or soaked, and I will need to lay them out at lunchtime.

Dorothy pass is in Northern Gateway to Yosemite national Park. Once leaving the Yosemite boundary, it seems I found a lake around every band and over every hill. With lakes come streams and creeks. All of them or dry crossings. I only took a picture of a few.

As I continue down canyon, there are some cool mountains along side of me

I’ve reached the Walker River foot bridge it to has been damaged over the winter, but is crossable

I started today’s long, uphill climb. I stopped about halfway at this creek for lunch. Spread out all my stuff to dry and took some time to relax.

As I continue climbing uphill, I can look back at the valley where I have come from

I am on a very steady even grade Baron section of Trail. Look ahead and back and see the switch packs.

Once I reach the top, I continue side slope where the views are amazing in all directions

Looking down in the valley and see another beautiful lake

The mountain ranges around us are spectacular. They go as far as the eye can see

The first week of September how on earth am I still walking through snow?  On the other hand, I probably just did my last glasaid for the season.

Looking ahead at the jagged peaks, you can see where the trail passes through some of the rocks.

Looking down below, I can see mini small lakes, formed and fed by the snow melt

As I pass through the jagged section I photographed earlier I am rewarded again with more amazing views of the next Valley

I go down and back up over another saddle again more amazing views of steep mountain cliffs with lakes and streams below, and erosion, scarred mountainsides

I’ve arrived at Sonora pass now I need to work on a hitch in Kennedy Meadows North for a shower, laundry, food, resupply, a bed, and a real meal.

I managed to get a hitch within about 10 minutes from a day hiker, named Mark, coming off trail. He dropped me off at the entrance Road in Kennedy Meadows and I had a final 1 mile Road walk. I arrived at Kennedy Meadows north. Got a shower wash my clothes, ate a great steak, the owner of Kennedy Meadows is a cattle rancher and services on here. I have a comfortable bed for the night and I can start getting these blogs posted.
