Monday, February 2
Monday morning is our first workday. We started with a group devotional at Sunrise at the hotel, and then headed to our job site. Along the way we sang and worship songs began sharing with some testimonies. This will be our morning routine each day.
we arrive at AIM’s Headquarters, where our tools were being stored. We laid them all out before our three work sites broke into our groups.
My group will be working in the village where we will completely tear down a home and rebuild it.
The second team will be working at AIM’s recreation facility known as the Lord’s gym. This is a place where AIM provides outreach to the young men in the community. This team will be converting an outdoor space to an enclosed area where their boxing ring will be moved. The area currently taken up by the boxing ring will be expanded for more workout equipment.
The third team will be going to the home of an AIM staff member whose husband recently died from cancer, leaving the mother and three children. They will be repairing the home and doing much work there.
My team arrived at the community and began the demolition of the existing home. Our plan is to get everything taken down by the end of the day, we had that done by lunch.
The weather is definitely hotter here. We also received a material delivery if you notice this is a trailer pulled by a moped.
We have about five of the local Kids who helped us last year on the Bill. They are back again this year helping us out. Their faces are blurred for security reasons.
While eating dinner at a local Cambodian restaurant we had three people who recognized our shirts and asked us what we were doing this week. They have worked with AIM in the past as an NGO.
