Day 125 Oregon is done!

Today we slept in. It is a town day! We have 10 miles and will touch the border. I can’t believe we have already walked the entire state of Oregon! We said goodbye to the river, and headed back up to the Trail.

We came across some more thimble Berry’s and stopped for a quick snack

The river is beautiful there are multiple waterfalls, swimming holes, and cascades.

We have arrived at the reason for taking the alternate. Tunnel Falls it is absolutely astonishing! Words cannot do it justice and pictures cannot begin to capture its beauty and power. Gods creation is breathtaking. There is a tunnel blasted through the rock behind the falls that we walk through.

We continue down the trail. It’s beauty did not diminish.

We stopped every so often to eat more berries. Besides, the thimbleberries and blackberries we’ve now had boysenberries come in.The mountain cliffs are spectacular.

We’ve come to Highbridge, obvious where it gets its name from. I took a couple pictures down into the ravine from the bridge, and then we crossed the river and continue down the trail.

More waterfalls and Spectacular River views accompany us with every step, and we found one more blowdown.

A little bit further down the trail, we came to a third bridge. Followed by more spectacular river features.

The good news is we continue to walk along the river. The bad news is, it’s now turned in to a road walk as the trail has ended.

Shortly we were back on a trail called the Gorge trail. That will take us to the PCT reconnect.

We have arrived in cascade locks. Walking around it is surreal as we walk down the bridge of the gods to the midway point where the Washington border is. I cannot believe we have finished the state already!

After touching the border, we went to lunch and we’re met by a fan of Jeff and Ellen‘s blog “journeys with Jeff and Ellen” she lives in Washington and likes to Trail angel. She gave us a ride to hood river where we will stay tonight and tomorrow on our zero. She treated us to an ice cream as well. Thank you Maureen!
