I woke up hoping for a nice sunrise, but there was a little cloud cover that blocked most of it. We packed up and started hiking at 6:45.
Today I complete my flip, on March 31 we left Paradise Valley café below Idlewild due to the snow and trail closure on San Jacinto. We came to the highway 14 tunnel and hiked 200 miles to Walker Pass. Once at Walker Pass we returned to PVC and resumed a northward hike through San Jacinto 300 miles back to this point. As I crest the hillside I see Hwy 14 in the distance. Soon I will be crossing under it again.
As I approach the tunnel, I feel a sense of accomplishment and bringing my two ends together.
The cliffs outside, and in Vasquez rocks, park have been one of my favorite portions of trail. It’s neet to go through them again. Last time I posted pictures this time I did videos.
Yesterday I met up again with Uncle and we hiked together for part of the day, he stayed at the Cave last night with me, and we hiked into Aquadulce together today. I returned to serenity‘s oasis to hang out for the day. It still has the nicest out house I’ve seen on trail.
This evening I am being picked up by a Trail angel named Cindy and taken it to their home in Mojave, where I will yard camp in their front yard, and in the morning her husband will be taking me to Ridgecrest.
Today’s miles 6.7 Total trail miles 634
(PCT mile mark 454.7 due to Flip completion of 200.7 and -20 due to fire closure)
