This section of the forest was significantly impacted by the Dixie fire a few years ago. As we hike we were warned of active logging operations in the area removing dead trees.
As we hike through the fire decimated forest, we do see some of the underbrush coming back to life like this Utah Serviceberry with the white flowers and the yellow flowered Lobeleaf Groundsel. Great Molen have big broad green leaves and are lining our trail
This spring flows directly from underground starting right in the middle of this Hillside
As I come up over a little rise and into this part of the forest it is just beautiful with moss on the side of all the trees adding contrasting colors
Up and over another hill, and we have a beautiful views of the snow covered mount Lassen range.
We have a beautiful green meadow with small lakes and rivers flowing through it down below us . I’ve been trying to get a clear shot through the trees, but they are just not cooperating.
As we encounter the north fork of the feather river, we’ve come across a bridge to assist us in crossing. The side of the river is a great place for lunch.
After lunch, we continue towards mount Lassen national park. We can see evidence of the volcanic activity on one side of the trail on the other side of the trail has this flooded Meadow.
The stream , feeding the flooded meadow is coming from this picturesque lake.
This picture is the same meadow from the opposite side, as we have come around it.
It’s nice to look out over the expansive Valley and the green forests below.
We pass above another beautiful green meadow sitting down below us
We hiked up alongside this creek on our way to the lake it is originating from. When we got up to the lake outlet, we had to cross on this narrow log to get across the stream.
Boiling springs lake is heated by thermal springs to a fatal temperature.
Time to cross one more bridge assisting us across the river.
We arrived at Warner Valley camp. It is a forest service campground that has pit toilets, and more importantly bear boxes to put our food in. The campground sat along a river.
