Day 130 small town kindness

July 24

I woke up this morning next to Blue Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous. The sun coming up shining on the mountains above it.

We left camp at 6 o’clock this morning. It was very windy all night and continued this morning which was nice because it kept mosquitoes away. Once we hit the trail, it was sheltered from the land and no mosquitoes to speak up.

We passed by Junction lake and crossed this footbridge bridge over the outlet.

Bear lake is another lake that the trail passes close to

We are coming across many patches of the beautiful avalanche, Lili.

Mount Adams is off to the right side of our trail. We are getting glimpses of it pretty regularly and it should increase throughout the day.

Wow, trout lake is a small town close to the trail. That is very PCT hiker friendly. They actually have a shuttle that will come pick up hikers at the trail head three times a day. I came across this list of Trail angel‘s that is posted at multiple locations as you get closer to town.

A new species of flower I am encountering is the purple colored Subalpine Fleabane.

This section of trail has a lot of these small meadows. The greenery in Washington is beautiful. I am encountering a lot of small streams today as well.

I noticed another of these older trail blazes. I think they are the original trail markers, but will need to research it more when my walk is done.

These small footbridges give easy access across the streams.

When we arrived at the road we took some time to relax while waiting for the shuttle, which turned out to be 2 pickup trucks for 14 hikers.

We arrived at the town of Trout Lake, Main Street is pictured. We checked out their general store, and then went to a trail angel’s house that rents rooms, got a bed, shower, laundry, and dinner.

Today’s PCT miles hiked 23.7

Total PCT Miles hiked to date 1687.2

PCT mile marker 2229.9

(Flipped over 542.8 miles)
