Last night was a comfortable night, kept my quilt foot box open like a blanket and clipped on three of the four clips and slept well.
Hitting the trail this morning at 7:15 after a great breakfast, the sun is just starting to peek over the hill behind us
Our hike today starts on this mountain road. It’s going to be about a 4 mile Road walk.
When I dropped back on the trail the views as always are stunning. In the far distance a few more windmills. Our terrain has turned into more of the typical mountainous pines
We have been coming across these Colubird Snakes a plant that often grows right in the middle of the trail. First glance really does look like a baby snake.
The pine trees lining the road in this area are the singleleaf pinyon
About 3 miles into the road walk Ryan and I were both feeling pretty dehydrated. We found a patch of snow off the side of the road stopped melted a couple liters drank them, boy what a difference that makes.
Off in the distance is a hillside, covered with golden poppy’s, that are just an outstanding orange. Zoom in on the picture above the tan patches.
Finally back on trail from the dirt road.
Far in the distance is Olancha peak, its the snow, covered triangle shaped mountain that’s in the beginning of the Sierras
This rock is covered with multicolored Likins. It’s like God’s graffiti absolutely beautiful.
Another trail video, showing some of the rocks, foliage and lichens
Made it to our lunch spot on fumes, Golden Oaks, Spring. We are going to chow down, rest for a bit and continue down the trail. We have not really set a campsite objective yet we have a couple possibilities and will see how they look as we get there.
From the smooth slope, part of the trail across the valley and see some pretty cool, looking, sheer cliffs
Rolled into camp top of a saddle in a cow pasture at about 530. Got camp set up quickly dinner made, and will be getting ready for bed soon.
