I woke up and was out of camp at 6:08 this morning I went 3 miles to the highway and within about 10 minutes I was able to get a hitch by a wonderful Trail angel named Linda. She took me to the Diamond Lake resort and dropped me off at the restaurant where I got a great breakfast.
The resort found someone to take me back to the trail. Jason came to my table and said he would take me back and all he asks as a donation to pay it forward.
Before me is a Beautiful open space with snow, covered peaks in the background
Beautiful view of Diamond Lake down below me
Mount Thiesen is in front of me, it’s really impressive
It is said that this creek is fed by a glacier off of Mount Thiesen and flows year-round. It’s a good halfway spot to fill with water.
Another area with incredible views from the trail.
I reached a spot that is the highest point of the PCT in Oregon. The elevation is 7573. Much different than the 13,120 of Forrester pass the highest point on the PCT in total. It was supposed to be a sign, but I think it is buried in the snow. We cannot find it. Did I mention we have had full snow for a couple miles? I met a hiker from Germany named Matthias. We hiked together for a couple miles before, and after the highest point.
I arrived at my campsite, the Junction for a lake. Originally, I was going to camp at the lake, but did not realize it was a mile off trail. There were plenty of sites at the junction with some other hikers I’ve been bumping into. I set up my tent ate my dinner , and got ready for bed after a long day with lots of snow.
Today’s PCT miles hiked 20.8
Total PCT Miles hiked to date 1324.7
PCT mile marker 1865.9
(Flipped over 542.8 miles)
