Day 56 God’s Perfect Timing

Cindy and Richard truly are a blessing.  Cindy picked me up last night at serenity‘s oasis and brought me to their home. They provided me a room to stay in, fantastic conversation, and a delicious breakfast before bringing me to Ridgecrest. I have met so many people who have a heart for others and selfishly give; it was one of my “whys” for taking this walk. I don’t think trail angels realize what an impact there kindness makes to us hikers.

God‘s timing is perfect. I wrote in the post wrestling with God that I did not know why he held us in Wrightwood. That delay has caused the timing to be perfect for me to return home for a wedding of a good friend. In order for me to attend the wedding, I needed to be able to hike quick enough to get to Agua Dulce by Wednesday evening, find an available rental car for Thursday through Monday in Ridgecrest, and most importantly, find a ride from Agua Dulce to Ridgecrest. I was in an area that had no cell phone service when I realized reaching Aqua Dulce was possible, but could not get service. I rounded a corner, and could see down into a valley and turned off airplane mode. One bar. I checked enterprise website and found a car, I booked it. Put a a long shot message on the Ridgecrest, Facebook angel page and received a reply within a minute, it was Cindy, stating they could do it. Now you know the story leading to my post today that I’m driving home. But God’s incredible timing was not done yet.

We arrived in Ridgecrest, and I picked up my rental car. I decided to sit down for a lunch before driving instead of just getting fast food on the road. As I pulled out of the parking lot from lunch, 30 minutes later, Cindy called asking if I was still in the area. There was a hiker at Kennedy Meadows, who had injured his leg and needed a ride to Sacramento! His only contact was with an email, so I replied that he needed to call ASAP. Three minutes before I got to the turn off for home he called. I turned right to go to Kennedy Meadows instead of left to go home. 45 minutes later I had “Gastone” in my car and we headed home. It turns out Gastones Tramily had left the trail at the Sierra, he continued and got hurt. They live 20 minutes from my house and met us when we arrived in my neighborhood to pick him up!

While driving, I took the time to call the kids. When I talked to Josh, I was given the news that he was coming into town this weekend as well and I will get to see him.
