Day 46 closed trail great lodging

We leave our stream side, camping spot and head to Cajon Pass today. A little bummed the Nob fire has close a portion of trail between Highway 15 and Wrightwood. It is about 20 miles of closed trail,so when we get to McDonald’s we will eat and look for a ride into Wrightwood.

Below is a beautiful mix of wildflowers along the trail this morning with our campsite in the river bed below.

My old friend, the pipe gate I haven’t seen him in so long

Wow, just breathtaking

Same canyon from above and across from the wall I took the previous pictures from the top

Another breath taking Canyon

Trail video day 46

As we walked toward I-15, we went down this peaceful Canyon and Creek.

Once, arriving at the highway we reached where the trail is closed for the Nob fire. We took a side route to McDonald’s joining many other hikers.

We started a road walk to Wrightwood and within three minutes a couple pulled over and asked if we were PCT HIKERS and we told them yes. They asked if we needed a ride anywhere, we told him wrightwood, they said no problem and we jumped in the car with our two new Trail angels Phil and Carissa

They dropped us off at the road leading to Wrightwood and within one minute. Deann pulled over and asked if we wanted a ride into town, again we accepted with our second Trail angel of the day.

We did our resupply shopping and were able to find a great place to stay for the night. A private cabin we shared with five other hikers, Ann, Day One (you may remember him from our stay at Kenny’s place), Unicorn and Miriam (from Switzerland) and Lucky from England.

The property manager for the cabin gives us rides, does our laundry, and provides fashionable pajamas while our clothes are being cleaned.

We ordered pizza delivery for dinner, loaded our backpacks for tomorrow, and went to sleep.

Today’s miles 6.2 Total trail miles 542.7

(PCT mile mark 341.9 due to Flip completion of 200.7
