Day 39 Childhood connections

We were early out this morning at 6:40. Today we again started the day with a couple miles uphill.

I mentioned in yesterday’s blog my connection to San Gorgonio and what I got out of Scouts. I made contact with somebody who had worked the camp staff the year I got into the organization, Robert Stradley,  he lives here a mile off trail and he met us where the trail crosses his road. We arranged for him to pick us up at the trail head at the end of the day and will spend the evening at his house.

This is a view of the opposite side of San Gorgonio than the post 2 days ago.

Off of the distance is big bear lake, which is our destination for today.

Today’s trail is a great mix of terain and elevation changes with some walks along creeks.

This is a view of the snow covered portion of mountain. We transitioned yesterday and the distance.

Stopped for lunch along this beautiful creek. It’s our last water source for the next 7 miles before we get to the big bear trail head joining us are Dr. Dave on the right and not Dave with the blue hoodie. Couple other hikers that Lee spent the last two nights with and then leapfrogging on trail .

As we work our way into Big Bear lake we traveled all the way around to the desert side of the mountain range prior to circling back in and dropping down to the lake side.

Robert picked us up at the trail head when we finished our hike for today. We went to the grocery store, bought dinner items, and then back to his cabin. We had awesome food and great fellowship. He is a strong believer like both myself and Ryan. It was an awesome end to a great day.

Today’s miles 19.7 Total trail miles 466.8

(PCT mile mark 266.2 due to Flip completion of 200.7
