Perito Moreno Glacier

 Glacier views

Today we got up late again after catching up on some needed sleep. We drove to. Perito Moreno Glacier national Park.Today we got up late again after catching up on some needed sleep we drove to Perito Moreno Glacier national Park. Once we entered, we passed a couple of viewpoints with the glacier and the distance.

Once you enter park, there’s a free shuttle that brings you up to the walkways. They have put a lot of infrastructure here in The form of upgraded walkways. It is nice to walk on, but I would much rather be on just natural trails. The view of the glacier is fantastic.

The Pietro Moreno glacier is said to be one of the only ones in the world that is actually still growing while all the others are shrinking. As I was coming down the walkway, I heard an enormous rumble and crack, then a big splash as a large chunk broke off, unfortunately, my view was obscured by some trees, and I could only hear it.

I heard some more crack sounds and was able to record a piece breaking off. The sounds are incredible.

The walkway offers varied views from different heights. All are amazing. The height of the glacier is 70 meters.

Farther down the walkway there are great views of the icebergs floating near the glacier. Their size is evident in viewing the boat in the water just beyond it.

There is an additional trail leading to where we originally boarded the bus. It travels along the hillside above the shore line, but it has started to rain fairly steady, and my jacket is getting a little wetter than I would like. I don’t have my rain gear so I think I’m going to take the bus back down.

The drive back to El Calafate was beautiful. We passed by part of the river with some icebergs floating along.

The highway went by some cliff faces, and we happen to see a few rock climbers ascending

as we come back into town, we have a beautiful views of large logo Argentina

After returning to El Calafate we headed out to dinner at a recommended bbq restaurant. We started with a CEASER SALAD and BRUSCHETTA WITH TROUT SMOKED AND BLUE CHEESE. Our main course was the MEATS CLASSIC MIX 2

(2 PERSONS - PATAGONIAN LAMB, RUMPSTEAK AND TENDERLOIN). Great food.
