Day 185 Stevens Pass

 September 17

I was up early this morning, packed up and headed out of camp at 6:30 AM. I put some air plugs in at about 8 PM and was not bothered by the next campsites talking anymore. There was a fog rolling down the mountain side across the lake that was slowly descending as I took my steps.

As I move across the valley, I can look down and see more clouds moving through it really awesome

I come over the top of Traps pass and immediately drop steeply down to the valley below. There’s a beautiful lake down below me and the sun is peeking out between some dark overcast skies in the mountains. On the other side of the valley fog is lifting through the saddle next to me. All of it is astonishingly beautiful check out this video.

One interesting thing that I have noticed both in Washington and parts of northern Oregon are places on the trail. I have been worn down and you can see the side of the soil. It appears like there may be an ashy Lair my hypothesis is that this is from the mount Saint Helens eruption ash was deposited on the soil, and since been covered up.

I find the movement of the clouds through the mountains and valleys fascinating.

I passed by a meadow with a Lake at the far end that I eventually pass along the shoreline on the trail.

I’m about halfway up my next bigger uphill for today and I just bumped into four hikers coming down the trail one of them trail name motor finished the trail earlier this year she gave me a cherry Coke what a great treat

The trail offers so many beautiful lake vistas

I have arrived in Stevens Pass. There is a ski resort here with a restaurant in the lodge I stopped for a barbecue brisket sandwich that was fairly good and continued a mile down the road to a side trail that will take me to the Skykomish outfitters lodge. It’s basically a cabin run as a Lodging house.

I arrived at the lodge, got a shower, did my laundry, received my food shipment, organized the next day meals, and began working on my Blog. Not much rest yet, but it is nice to be off my feet.

By the way, I took some time and read back through all the comments on the blog It is neat reading what you all have written. thank you!
