Day 134 Get to see my boy

July 28

I got up this morning with anticipation of seeing my oldest son Josh today. He will meet me at White Pass with a food supply and to have lunch. I started today with another uphill climb. That seems to be the case most of the time. I’ve entered an area that looks like both a burn scar, and a place with a lot of dead trees from some other cause. I’m not sure which came first.

As I crest a saddle I have a phenomenal view of Mount Rainier. Mount Rainier is the highest point in Washington, and both that it holds more glaciers than any other mountain in the lower 48. The clouds below it make it look like it’s rising out of the sea. Off to my left I have The other jagged mountains of a goat rocks.

I cross this lava field of rocks, just after the view of Mount Rainier. Shortly after that as I reach the top of today’s climb I see a beautiful lake down in my right.

This is one of those neat long stretches a Trail where you can see it stretching out for you. I much prefer being able to see far ahead where I will be. It gives me some goals. Helps me feel accomplishment as I get closer.

The trail passes by this winter, ski slope, and Chair left.

Ginnette Lake sits right off the side of a trail and I paused for a moment to look at the beauty of the reflected trees on the opposite shore.

I arrived at the white pass trailhead hoping to meet my son, Josh, who has been doing food resupplies during my time in Oregon and Washington, but he was delayed and will not be there for a couple of hours. I waited for jelly and take charge to arrive, and we walked down to the Kracker Barrel store. Josh arrived, and we went to lunch in the nearby town of Packwood.

Josh returned me to the trail head, it’s a sad day for me because take charge and jelly are going off trail. I once again find myself hiking alone.

As I went up the trail, I entered the William O. Douglas Wilderness.

I arrived at my next campsite along the shores of deer lake. I laid out all the food. Josh brought me and organized it into daily portions are my dinner, and went to bed.
