OneChild and Philippine History day 7

 April 12, 2024

I've mentioned that meal time is a big deal, our hotel had an amazing breakfast buffet each morning that rival dinner buffets and the Tahoe casinos! It was a good way to start each day. We all ate together along with the OneChild trip staff. We had a daily devotion that each team member took a turn at delivering. This morning routine helped us to become very close.

We loaded back into our vans and went to the OneChild offices to meet the behind the scenes staff that did all the grocery shopping for our gift bags.  They did a fantastic job with over 100 bags that were ready for us to load each morning. We learned a bit more about how the hope centers are selected, monitored, and supported.

Next it was off to old town Manila.  We toured the old city by auto rickshaw and horse drawn carriage. We then walked through the old city fort whose walls surrounded the city. There are a few large historic cathedrals, cannon batteries, and underground dungeons.

We ended the night with dinner at a buffet restaurant that featured a traditional Philippine dance show. and delicious smoothies. The green one is avocado!

We headed back to the hotel ready for a good nights sleep before heading to the Island of Boracay for our team decompress day.
