Anyone who knows much about me knows I’ve had a heart for global missions for many years. Last night at 7 PM I met with six other people from my church to travel to San Francisco international airport. There we met an eighth person who will be part of our 10 person mission team to the Philippines. We will have five hours from the time we loaded into our van until we loaded onto our first airplane. 13 1/2 hours later we will land in Taiwan and spend 2 1/2 hours in the airport in Taipei. From there we will get on our final 2 1/2 half hour flight finally finally arriving in Manila Philippines. Departing Friday the fifth at 7 PM we will arrive Sunday the seventh at 11:30 AM. We gain 12 hours. We will be awake and traveling for 23 hours, we arrive, we will still have a full day, putting together the gift packages we are taking with us as we visit each “hope center“.
We are parting with an organization called OneChild. They operate care centers and orphanages for children here in the Philippines. Some of the children don’t have parents some have parents that have to travel far for work extended period of time. And others just don’t have the resources to care for the children. once we arrive in Manila, we will travel to the hotel. We are based out of. Each day we will travel to the province we will be visiting, meet the kids and staff provide a VBS.(Vacation Bible school) For the kids, and poor love and appreciation into the staff.
Here is a link to the OneChild website if you a curious about the oranization. https://onechild.org/
