Day 120 burn scars and healthy forest

Today was a slow get up day. The lake produced a lot of condensation. We took the time to dry our gear in the sun before leaving had a nice breakfast and walked out of camp at 7:50. We started with an uphill climb. You can look down and see the lake and the campsite we were at last night.

Today there are many lakes alongside of our Trail. This is the first we are passing.

Today again has started in a burn zone from last year. Ground cover is slowly coming up, but the trees are completely destroyed.

We have reached Olallie Lake resort. It is a tiny resupply spot. I have two days worth of food and wanted to supplement with one more. I also grabbed some snacks. I think hiker hunger is kicking back in, and I am not eating enough calories. I had a moon pie, chocolate muffin, bag of tortilla chips, jar of salsa, Gatorade, and orange Sunkist soda.

A new sign we have not seen before, Watch out for Bears, we are entering Indian reservation tribal lands.

We stopped at Jude lake for lunch although I’m not yet that hungry I don’t know why? Ha ha filled up with water cameled up and took a rest. I did eat a ramen meal, gotta keep the calories up.

It is nice to be out of burn areas and back into the green with all the trees and a new brush foliage.

On this section of trail, we have a taller trees, more spaced out with smaller vegetation on the ground.

We stopped at a small spring and refilled her water. We have 3 miles to go to our camp tonight, which is a dry camp that means carrying four extra liters of water.

After a good uphill push, we arrived at our campsite. We set up tents had some dinner and settled in for the night.

Today’s PCT miles hiked 18.9

Total PCT Miles hiked to date 1519.0

PCT mile marker 2059.2

(Flipped over 542.8 miles)
