We say goodbye to the White Water Preserve and head up the riverbed.
We walked in sand and cobble for about a mile and a half, and needed to cross the river twice. The water was about thigh deep and moving pretty swiftly.
After leaving the riverbed, we had a steady uphill accent back into the hills
Almost at the top of the climb I reached a little open Vista and could look down at the River Valley we were in a short time ago. San Jacinto is in the background with the ridge lines that we crossed three days ago to the right. The second photo is from above with Ryan standing on the same Vistapoint.
Another new purple flower it is called Purple Owl’s Clover, and a second new flower also purple the Nama demodes.
Mount San Gorgonio looms in the distance, I visited the summit a few times back in my childhood more on that later.
We walked along the ridge top between white water, Creek and mission creek.
Desert blue bells have their large trumpet flower open along the trail
We came ame across some trail, maintenance crews. These two, Colon and Lloren who are building steps helping to Keep the trail in good shape. Thank you guys.
As we had heard, this portion of the Trail crosses the creek multiple times it’s kind of funny, We always do the same thing; the first two or three crossings we really search up and down to find some good boulders to jump across maybe just getting a small portion of our shoes wet. After the fifth or sixth splash your feet are pretty wet and about the seventh one you say forget it and walk right through the water knowing your shoes will eventually dry; Although, that’s terrible for the feet and usually causes issues later.
It has been beautiful, hiking along the river today, but it is slow going with a lot of route, finding and water crossings.
We arrived at our campsite alongside the river on a sandy washout. Made dinner, going to bed after another long, slow day with difficult routes.
Today’s miles 15.2 Total trail miles 434.4
