It was fairly windy last night. We woke up to cloud banks blowing in over the camp. Hopefully it’s going to warm up soon as it’s a little chilly right now. The sun is just poking through the clouds.
Walking out of camp at 7:10
The last couple miles yesterday was covered with a Lot of tree blow downs, and today we are starting with more that cover the trail
Today’s Lichen on the rocks is an honor of both of my older boys army service. Proud of the and this is a nice reminder of them.
Little trail buddy, squirrels in here in the logs. Can you spot him?
We’ve come to another area with significant blow down that we need to pick and choose ways over, around, or under
Looking across at some of the blow down, we just came through and then looking ahead at the uphill that were sending
Finally got some downhill and flat area. It’s nice to move along without having to crawl around all of the blow downs.
Very nice little spot next to a stream. We could refill our water lean back against the log and enjoy a lunch of salami, cheddar cheese, and Pringles on a tortilla.
The trail pops out to a road that we will follow for about a mile before jumping back on to the actual trail. There’s a private cabin just off the trail at this intersection and they’ve got this sign posted just as you come off the trail God’s words are everywhere.
After another mile long road walk, we popped back on the trail for an additional mile and came to a water source. After a quick break, we got back on the trail.
For the next about 4 miles we were in snow. As it was late in the afternoon, it was getting soft and slushy. We followed other peoples foot prints, but still did occasionally post hole down to about mid shin. Couple of times did post hole down to the knees.
With all the snow the rivers were running pretty good, we had some good crossings.
Our speed was slowed, however, because of the increased effort and caution with each step we had to take. We arrived at camp at about 615 had to find a dry place to put the tents cook dinner and go to bed.
Today’s miles 16.3. Total trail miles 307.0. PCT mile mark 606.3 due to Flip of 299.5
