New Zealand day 1

We headed to the airport on an 8:30 PM flight out of Sacramento on March 8 th and arrived in New Zealand at 10 AM on the 10th. Following our flight, we picked up four rental cars for our group of 15 people and immediately headed to our first adventure, the Christ Church gondola to a mountain top overlooking the city and Harbor. Rob was ready to go from the airport.

Following our gondola adventure, we were picked up from the parking lot and taken on a bus tour of the city of Christchurch interestingly enough, one of the main streets is Durham St.

One of the other interesting items we saw is a 911 memorial. New Zealand is one of the first countries that responded to New York in assistance and as a thank you some pieces of iron from the twin towers was turned into a memorial here in Christchurch.

Christchurch has many large parks throughout the city. Some of them have botanical gardens. We’ve walked through one with beautiful flowers.

We finished the tour and went to our hotel for check-in Showers that felt amazing after our full day of Travel followed by a full day of activities.
