Rafting on the American River's South Fork

Today I'm meting up with a brother from church for a rafting trip down the south fork of  the American River. We met up at the public park in Coloma to drop our cars and took a shuttle up to Chili Bar. My buddy Denny worked as a river guide in the past, and has his own raft.

Our group was four in our raft, tow in another, and one Kayak. the water was refreshingly cold, but the sun was warm with a cloudless sky.

Mid way down our river trek, we pulled into an eddy behind this rock outcropping in the middle of the river. It was a nice place for lunch. The rocks provide a place for some colorful flowers to show their beauty.

We put back into the water and continued down river to the park. we past a Double-crested Cormorant claiming his spot on the rock in the center of the river.
