August 23
My cousin, Debbie and I went for a beautiful drive today around Lake Tahoe. My new shoes arrived here in Tahoe and it was a good excuse to take them out for a test wearing.
We went to Truckee and while there I was able to exchange two pairs of my Darn Tough socks that have holes in them. Darn tough has a lifetime warranty and you just take them in to any retailer that sells them and get a new pair. I got one pair I really like that has the PCT logo on it.
When we returned to the house, I had a food shipment waiting for me. My daughter had sent. I was able to get for five days in American, the first days food can be carried outside the burden because I will consume it before bed.
The bear, pictured above is required for all of the Sierras. All of my food gets put inside of it. It has a lid with two locking tabs and it is stored outside my tent, overnight preventing Bears from enjoying human food. It weighs 2 1/2 pounds by its self and is one of the reasons why pack wait in the Sierras is the heaviest of the trip not only do I have a longer food carry, but I have the weight of the bear can as well.
