Day 91. 1000 miles!

We woke up to a beautiful lake, packed up, had breakfast and walked out at 6:30 to Incredible morning views coming out of the lakes entrance.

We started off with a traverse of and icy snow field that had fairly good solid boot tracks crossing above toad lake.

The trail is providing more beautiful morning views today in all directions

The red Wavyleaf Paintbrush is another species of the Indian paintbrush similar to what we have seen previously last pictured coming off San Jacinto

I am on a side slope of a somewhat barren mountainside and have a great opportunity for a full panoramic picture

At about 2.8 miles prior to Deadfall Lakes we Reached the top of another saddle. With the aspect change we have another snow traverse across. While I feel comfortable without mu micro spikes, I am carrying them, so I will put them on for this slope.

We’ve come up to another pass that we are crossing back to the opposite side of the mountain

I love these Groves of trees covered in moss; the colors are so vibrant

Deadfall lakes sit right on the trail. The trail actually crosses between the two lakes connected by a beautiful stream.

Leaving the lakes we cross, one more stream, and then soon came above this meadow

The trail crosses over another incredibly beautiful stream, cascading down the rocks of the mountain side

More open and expansive views as we hike along, half a mile from my lunch spot, which is celebratory today as it is my 1000 miles hiked mark, is this creek I was able to fill up with my water for lunch.

I have arrived at 1000 total PCT trail miles hiked! A perfect time and spot for lunch.

Across more pretty streams, and under some really cool rock formations and geology

Another location that seems to be made for a panoramic picture.

This giant spectacular Cliff looms large over the end of the lake below it.

The trail brings us past Bull lake, another beautiful mountain lake. Just after passing the lake we came up over another pass to the valley to the other side. There are two more smaller lakes.

We soon dropped down off another saddle, over a snow field, and along a stream. Actually, the stream is the trail, as the water is flowing down it. We follow the Mountainside around to a second pass. Just passed the pass is where we made our camp on a ridge with an incredible view. Two hundred feet away is a stream for filling our water it has a California pitcher plant around it which is actually a carnivorous plant.

As usual, we set up camp and made dinner. The last two pictures are the view from inside my tent. I’m sleeping with my vestibule open tonight to take advantage of the views.

Despite being in bed at six, I laid awake until after 930 unable to sleep I did catch multiple pictures of the sun is it went down behind the trees and Mountains

Today’s PCT miles hiked 18.3

Total PCT Miles hiked to date 1006.8

PCT mile marker 1532.4

(Flipped over 542.8 miles)
