I started off in the morning with a final visit with Jeff, Ellen, and Ryan. Jeff and Ellen are leaving trail again for a few days, and Ryan is returning home to the AT. We all went to breakfast and met up with Uncle and his trail family, Yahoo, Beer Slide and Twigs. The five of us did a 2 mile Road walk to the Acorn Trail, which rises 2000 feet in two miles to meet the Pct.
As we ascend up, we can look down on the town of Wrightwood below.
We made it up to the PCT! The trail was not nearly as bad as we had heard. It has been the case most for reports we get.
Occasionally the clouds break, and we can see beautiful views into the surrounding valleys.
Towards the end of the day we arrived at a large parking area at the trail head for Mount Baden Powell. Many hikers are here and camping in the turnout of the closed road.
There is still slight bit of sun for us to try and dry our shoes and socks a little when we arrived, but it got cold very quickly. I ate dinner, filtered some water, and went to bed.
Today’s miles 10.6 Total trail miles 553.3
(PCT mile mark 374.0 due to Flip completion of 200.7 and fire closure)
